Fr. Gardeniae Zhi Zi 2-12g Clears Heat and eliminates irritability.
With Huang Lian, Da Huang and Lian Qiao, for irritability and restlessness with high fever due to Toxic Heat and carbuncles and furuncles with or without abscesses and ulcerations.
With Huang Lian, Huang Qin and Lian Qiao, for Boils and carbuncles.
With Lian Qiao, for Heat entering the Pericardium and Heat remaining in the Heart channel with sores in the mouth, or on the tongue, dark, scanty urine, or urinary discomfort.
With Da Huang, for constipation.
Natrii Sulfas Mang Xiao 2-9g Purges accumulations, eliminates Stagnation, clears Heat and reduces swelling.
With Da Huang, for constipation due to Heat in the Stomach and Intestines.
With Da Huang and Gan Cao, for moderate constipation due to accumulation of Excess Heat.
With Da Huang, Huang Qin and Zhi Zi, for Heat in the Lungs and Stomach.
Hb. Schizonepetae Jing Jie 3-9g Releases the exterior and expels Wind.
With Bo He, Jie Geng and Gan Cao, for acute cough due to Wind.
With Lian Qiao and Bo He, for Wind-Heat common cold.
With Bo He, releases the exterior to induce sweating, disperses Wind in the head and vents rashes and alleviates itching.
Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao 2-12g Moistens the Lungs, stops cough, clears Heat, relieves toxicity and harmonizes.
With Jie Geng and Jing Jie, for acute cough due to Wind.
With Jie Geng, for pain, swelling, and hoarseness of the throat.
With Niu Bang Zi, strongly clears throat and Lungs to treat Wind-Heat attacks the Lungs or Fire toxin flaring upwards.
Rx. Saposhnikoviae Fang Feng 3-9g Releases the exterior and expels Wind.
With Jing Jie, for Wind-Cold, Exterior patterns in any season, pruritic rash, initial-stage boils and to expel Wind and stop itching.
With Bo He, Huang Qin, Jing Jie and Lian Qiao, for Wind-Heat.

Rx. Scutellariae Huang Qin 4.5-15g Clears Heat and drains Fire.
 With Huang Lian and Fang Feng, for Intestinal Wind with hemafecia.
With Huang Lian and Zhi Zi, for acute febrile disease.
With Zhi Zi, powerfully clears and drains lurking Heat from the Lungs with fever, fullness in the chest, cough with yellow sputum and epistaxis or hematemesis.
Rx. Platycodi Jie Geng 3-9g Spreads Lung Qi, resolves Phlegm and benefits the throat.
With Niu Bang Zi, for throat inflammation and productive cough due to Wind-Heat.
With Huang Qin and Gan Cao, for Hoarseness, pain and swelling of the throat due to Wind-Heat.
Rx. et Rz. Rhei Da Huang 2 -12g Drains Heat, purges accumulations and relieves toxicity.
With Huang Lian, for a feeling of fullness and distention due to Heat accumulation.
With Huang Lian, Huang Qin, Zhi Zi and Mang Xiao, for strong pathogenic Heat in the Upper and Middle Jiaos and Upward Flaring of Heat attacking the head.

With Niu Bang Zi, Jie Geng and Bo He, for pain and swelling of the throat and purpuric rashes due to Wind-Heat.
With Jie Geng and Gan Cao, for sore throat with Dryness and pain.
with Niu Bang Zi and Bo He, for Initial stages of Wind-Heat where there are slight signs of toxicity.
